“My very first

targets were a pair of fast, bouncing rabbits.

Bang - Bang -
Lost - Lost

was the call - and at that moment I was hooked.”

Since that first day, Donny has owned a gun club and a shooting preserve in upstate SC and managed another. He became the NSCA State Delegate for SC and Zone 4 Coordinator for the southeast and was instrumental in spearheading the growth of sporting clays in South Carolina.

He became a tournament shooter in 1991 and shot all the major tournaments throughout the United States over the next 10 years with the purpose of learning more about other gun clubs and facilities, course layout and various target presentations. He wanted to incorporate the best ideas from around the country to the clubs he was associated with.

Donny’s passion to teach began in 1992 after taking the NSCA Level I Certification course under the Chief Instructor at that time, John Higgins. It was an enlightening experience and planted the seed to teach the sport to newcomers, recreational and competition shooters.

In 2001, Donny started Shotgun Sports Plus and now offers:

Individual and Corporate Shooting Lessons

• Shooting Schools and Academies

• Coaches and Instructor Certification

• Course Design and Layout

• Gun Fitting

Teaching shotgun instruction to recreational and competition shooters became a passion. After receiving his NSCA Level III Certification, he became a full time shotgun instructor and makes his living teaching others to shoot.

If Donny has a niche market, it’s with youth shooters from 10 to 25 years of age.
